Nevada Adventure Center Opens in Boulder City
Travel Nevada's first Adventure Center opened in Boulder City on October 7, offering a basecamp for guided tours and rentals.

The Travel Nevada Adventure Center in Boulder City opened to the public on October 7. This new basecamp for outdoor recreation offers trip-planning resources, safety information, and direct connections to local outfitters. Located near Lake Mead and just 30 minutes from Las Vegas, the facility is the first of two adventure hubs launched through a three-year state partnership.
Facility hosts multiple outdoor businesses with electric bike focus
The center at 102 Nevada Way currently hosts seven operational businesses, centralizing access to a wide range of desert adventures. Visitors can book everything from river rafting and Hoover Dam tours to off-road excursions and scenic helicopter flights. Two confirmed tenants specialize in electric bike rentals.
Canyon Riders LLC, owned by Brian Burns, began operations at the opening. Its standard three-hour tour costs $249 and uses fat-tire e-bikes with 750-watt motors on the historic Railroad Tunnel Trail at Lake Mead. Riders must be at least 14 years old and 4 feet 11 inches tall. The tours employ smart helmets with intercoms, and guides capture the ride in 4K video. Loop Trail Rentals offers a similar e-bike route plus access to the challenging 35-mile River Mountains Loop Trail.
Carson City location planned for 2027 with broader seasonal access
A second adventure hub is scheduled to open in Carson City in early 2027. That location will be 30 minutes from both Reno and Lake Tahoe. It aims to provide year-round access to gear and guided experiences, from hikes and paddling in warmer months to skiing and snowshoeing in winter. Historical tours, including at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, will also be featured. Organizers are actively seeking local business partners to provide rentals, tours, and education on ecology and land stewardship.
State and federal investment supports three-year outdoor initiative
The two adventure hub projects represent a combined investment of more than $7 million on existing state-owned land. A $3.7 million grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration provided key funding. The initiative is part of a three-year agreement between Travel Nevada and Outside Interactive, Inc. Robin Thurston, CEO of Outside Interactive, stated, "This partnership is a powerful step toward making that vision a reality in Nevada."
Opening event highlighted state and local collaboration
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was hosted by Travel Nevada CEO Rafael Villanueva and included Lt. Gov. Stavros Anthony and other state dignitaries. Local leaders emphasized the project's scale and collaborative nature. Jill Rowland-Lagan, CEO of the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce, described the relationship between the two e-bike rental companies as 'coopertition'. She credited the Nevada Commission on Tourism and federal representatives for the 'Herculean' effort. Brenda Scolari, director of the Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, said the region needed more outdoor infrastructure to align activities with economic and conservation goals. She called the opening the start of a new chapter built on shared purpose.
The forthcoming Carson City Adventure Center will offer access to hikes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, skis, snowshoes, and historical tours, including at the Nevada State Railroad Museum.
